The International Animation Film Festival Animateka was established in 2004 with the objective to improve the circulation and presentation of animated film production from Central and Eastern European countries. We are proud to present to the Animadeba festival audience a strong selection of short animated films for adults made in Slovenia. This program is presented in partnership with the Animateka International Animated Film Festival and the DSAF Slovenian Animated Film Association.

An animated-experimental film which, in accordance with the process of creation – the chemical and thermomechanical processes – features coincidences as its immanent part and thus, tries to surpass the conventions of traditional animation and narration.
Nočna ptica/Nighthawk

A badger lies motionless on a local road. A police patrol approaches the body in the dark. They soon realise that the animal is not dead; the badger is dead drunk from overripe pears! When the police attempt to drag the creature off the road, he wakes up and things take a strange turn.
Podlasica/Weasel

A hungry weasel attacks a flock of birds living on a tree, the last one still standing upright. The birds in the canopy are trying to keep the tree in balance, while the weasel is persistently trying to climb up its trunk. Its persistence is putting the tree's fragile balance ever more at risk, and its growling stomach is not letting up until it is too late.

Life in the Box is boring and miserable. Until one day when a new baby boy starts to grow in the middle of the Box! This baby is very different from other flat-headed inhabitants of the Box. He's happy, lively and curious. As the baby grows bigger and bigger, the flat-headed neighbours are becoming more and more annoyed with him. Until one day he literally grows over their heads.

Filip lives in a poor neighbourhood. He dreams of writer's glory and luxurious lifestyle in a more prosperous part of town. One day Filip gets a knock on the door. His neighbour Tereza, an older prostitute that Filip tries to avoid by all means, asks him to write a letter for her fiancé. Filip agrees. And it would all end up fine if a week later Tereza would not show up at his doorstep again, asking him to write an answer to the previous letter.

Lovro is tired and sad. He fills the bathtub with water, looking at droplets dripping from the tap. As one hits the water surface, Lovro is reminded of the day he first went fishing with his grandpa. His thoughts take him to the fish pond, and the bathroom sounds and objects bring back memories of that day. Memory and reality merge into one.
Legenda o Zlatorogu

A hunter heads out to the mountains to mend his broken heart. On his way he can’t escape the visions of his lover who left him. As he loses his mind, his dark side comes to life. The shadow tells him to hunt down the mythical Goldhorn and ultimately leads him to his demise. Based on a Slovenian folktale, this is a story about greed and our relationship to nature.
