Sara Álvarez Sarrat, is a PhD in Fine Arts and Associate Professor of Animation at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Politics of Valencia (UPV) since 1997. He currently runs the Master in Animation and is the coordinator of the research group Animation: Art and Industry. This group examines the theory and practice of animation from an interdisciplinary and artistic perspective.
During his professional career, he has worked with leading animation producers in Valencia, such as Truca Films and Tirannosaurus Productions, and had an experience working with the prestigious Animation World Network in Los Angeles, serving as a bridge between the industrial and academic animation sector.
She has been researching and promoting animation as an artistic expression for years, and has published numerous articles and texts at the national and international levels. Her works highlight her research on short animation, his analysis of festival programming such as Annecy or Stuttgart, and her reflections on understanding animation as a hybrid language between visual and audiovisual arts.
In order to visualize the work of young creators, the UPV has created and coordinated a demonstration of short animation films for international students called Prime the animation! since 2016.
During his academic career, he has participated in congresses in New York, Athens and Córdoba, Argentina, and has also participated in exhibition projects linking animated cinema, such as the film about Jan Švankmajer called Surviving Life .
