Born in Caracas in 1962, Bego\u00f1a Vicario Calvo is a doctor of fine arts with a thesis on experimental Basque animation cinema. He completed his academic training at the Moscow Pilot Studio, with Tatarski and Sramkowski, and then deepened his specialization at the Vitoria Design Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a filmmaker, she has produced a number of outstanding works, such as <\/span>Pregunta por m\u00ed<\/span><\/i> (1997), <\/span>Haragia<\/span><\/i> (2000), <\/span>Beti Bezperako Koplak<\/span><\/i> (2015, Agedakoplak kolektiboan), <\/span>Areka<\/span><\/i> (2016, Atxur colective) and <\/span>Ehiza<\/span><\/i> (2020, Hauazkena). These works have been exhibited and awarded at numerous international festivals, including the Goya Prize, the Madrid Experimental Film Award and the Zinebi Basque Film Grand Prix.<\/span><\/p>\n

She has collaborated with other creators, such as Josu Rekalde's directed proyect <\/span>Denboraren Hariak<\/span><\/i> with the prestigious Multiverso scholarship. In addition, he has written numerous articles and texts on animation, and has participated in several books, such as <\/span>Euskal animaziozko zinema esperimentalaren historia laburra<\/span><\/i> (1998, Madrid Experimental Film Week) <\/span>Mam\u00e1, quiero ser artista: entrevistas a mujeres del cine de animaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/i> (2004, Isabel Herguerarekin, Ocho y Medio), <\/span>Sistiaga, el trazo vibrante<\/span><\/i> (2008, Animadrid), <\/span>Euskal animazio zinema<\/span><\/i> (<\/span>Euskal Zinema Bideo Bilera 40th year<\/span><\/i>, 2017, UPV\/EHU) and <\/span>Cortometraje de animaci\u00f3n realizado por mujeres en el Estado Espa\u00f1ol<\/span><\/i>(2018, con Annette Scholz and Marta \u00c1lvarez, Iberoamericana Editorial).<\/span><\/p>\n

Bego Vicario is currently a professor at the UPV\/EHU Faculty of Fine Arts, where he teaches at the Master's Degree in Art and Contemporary Art (MACTP).
